Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 October 2026

This policy explains how Magpie Sensei (https://www.magpiesensei.com) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit the site.

Who we are

The site is run by Saul Clay (Magpie Sensei). Website address: https://www.magpiesensei.com.

For privacy questions, contact us through the Discord linked on the site, or by email if a contact address is published on the Contact page.

What this site is

Magpie Sensei is a personal gaming site. It is the home of the Magpie Sensei YouTube channel’s streams, videos and Shorts for games such as WARDOGS, Battlefield 6 and Borderlands 4, plus game suggestions from viewers and links to Discord and other social accounts.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address, and website you enter, plus the comment text.
  • We also store your IP address and browser user-agent string with the comment, to help detect spam.

Information collected automatically

  • Like most sites, the server and WordPress may log basic technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and the time of the visit.
  • Cookies may be set as described below.

We do not ask you to create an account to read the site. We do not sell your personal information.

Comments

When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comment form, and the visitor’s IP address and browser user-agent string, to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it. Gravatar’s privacy policy is at https://automattic.com/privacy/. If your comment is approved, your profile picture may be visible next to it.

Comment text and its metadata are kept indefinitely so we can recognise and approve follow-up comments instead of holding them in a queue. You can ask us to delete a comment and the personal data attached to it.

Media

If you upload an image to the site, avoid including location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download images and extract that data.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device.

We use:

  • Comment cookies. If you opt in when commenting, your name, email, and website are saved so you do not have to re-enter them. These last for one year.
  • Login and admin cookies. If you log in (site admins only), temporary cookies check whether your browser accepts cookies, and further cookies store login and display settings. Login cookies last up to two weeks if you choose “Remember Me”, otherwise about two days. A cookie set when editing a post expires after one day and contains no personal data.
  • Advertising cookies. If Google ads are shown on the site, Google and its partners may set cookies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your visits to this site and others. See the advertising section below.
  • Embedded-content cookies. Videos or other embeds (for example YouTube) may set their own cookies. See below.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Blocking some cookies may stop comments, login, or ads from working properly.

Embedded content

Pages may include embedded content such as YouTube videos, images, or social posts. Embedded content behaves as if you had visited that other site.

Those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with the embed, including if you are logged in there. Their own privacy policies apply. YouTube’s is at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Advertising

We may show ads served by Google (including Google AdSense or Google Ad Manager).

Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and other sites.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ad Settings at https://adssettings.google.com. You can also opt out of some third-party cookies at https://optout.aboutads.info (US) or https://www.youronlinechoices.com (EU/UK).

More on how Google uses data from partner sites: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Ads are labelled as advertisements or sponsored links. We do not control which specific ads Google chooses to show.

Who we share data with

  • Comment and spam-check services (for example an automated spam detection service, and Gravatar if you use it).
  • Google, if ads are displayed, as described above.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers who process server logs to run the site.
  • Embedded platforms such as YouTube when you play an embed.

If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email.

We do not sell personal information.

How long we keep data

  • Comments and their metadata: indefinitely, unless you ask us to erase them.
  • Server logs: for as long as the host retains them, typically a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
  • Advertising cookies: controlled by Google and your browser settings, not by us.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you
  • correct inaccurate data
  • ask us to erase data we hold about you
  • restrict or object to certain processing
  • data portability, where it applies
  • lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office, https://ico.org.uk)

To exercise these rights, contact us using the details above. We may need to confirm it is you. These rights do not cover data we must keep for legal, security, or administrative reasons.

Children

The site is not aimed at children under 13 (or under 16 where that is the local digital-consent age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy. The “last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
